Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 28th May, 2019) In what can be termed as a real change, a station house officer (SHO) in Gambat area of Khairpur returned the bribe to the citizen.
While policemen are infamous for taking bribe from the citizens, an SHO in Sindh was forced to return the bribe to citizen.
According to details, the SHO had taken bribe from the citizen two days ago. He had taken a mobile phone, cash and some other items as bribe. Following this, the citizen filed a complaint against the SHO with the SSP.
The SSP then ordered the SHO to return the bribe, including mobile phone, cash and other items, to the citizen. The SHO delivered the citizen’s stuff to his house in a police van.
The citizen thanked the policeman for returning his items. The SSP directed the SHO to resolve the citizen’s complaint as well.
There is a dire need to improve police structure to develop trust and confidence on police interrogation for providing speedy justice.
Making police reforms in this regard is essential to provide prompt justice to the common people.
The Sindh High Court had recently ordered the Sindh government to pass the new law with reforms over the transfers, postings and tenure of the policemen.
