MOFA says delegation’s discussions in Doha will focus on immediate cessation of cross-border terrorist activities originating from Afghanistan
DOHA: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Oct 18th, 2025) A high-level Pakistani delegation, led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, has arrived in Qatar to hold talks with the Afghan Taliban on preventing cross-border terrorism, officials confirmed.
A spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the delegation’s discussions in Doha will focus on the immediate cessation of cross-border terrorist activities originating from Afghanistan. Pakistan has emphasized that it does not seek any escalation and is committed to a peaceful resolution aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.
The spokesperson stated that Pakistan urged the Afghan Taliban to honor their international commitments and address Pakistan’s security concerns. Additionally, Pakistan called for verifiable actions against terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil.
The Foreign Office also praised Qatar’s mediation efforts, noting that the talks represent an important step toward enhancing regional peace and stability.
Officials added that during previous negotiations in Qatar, both Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban had agreed to a ceasefire in border areas pending further discussions.
The delegation, under the leadership of Khawaja Asif, arrived in Doha ahead of the talks, highlighting the seriousness and urgency with which Pakistan is addressing cross-border security threats.
