Punjab temporarily transfers 40 mosques to Auqaf control.
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,17, 2025) The Punjab government has temporarily handed over around 40 mosques associated with a religious group to the Auqaf Department, according to official sources.
As per Auqaf Department officials, imams appointed by the department will lead daily prayers in all 40 mosques, while in several mosques, Friday prayers will also be led by Auqaf imams.
Sources further stated that in mosques where any administrative or security issues arise, police personnel will be deployed alongside Auqaf-appointed imams to ensure smooth functioning.
