PM Khan holds meetings with World Bank CEO, IMF MD in Beijing

Meeting held separately on the sideline of Belt and Road Initiative Forum. Foreign Minister, PM advisor on Finance and Trade also attended the meeting

LAHORE- (Pakistan Point News- 26th April 2019) Prime Minister Imran Khan has held meetings with CEO of World Bank and Managing Director of International Monetary Fund on the sidelines of Belt and Road Forum in Beijing.

According to media reports, WB CEO Kristalina Georgieva vowed to continue cooperation with Islamabad for strengthening the country’s economy.

“Ms. Georgieve pledges to further strengthen cooperation with Pakistan in the areas of disbursements program lending and guarantees provided for raising external funds,” read a statement issued by the Pakistan embassy in Beijing.

According to the statement, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the PM's Adviser on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, and Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razaq Dawood were present in the meeting with the World Bank CEO.

Imran Khan, the statement added, informed the WB CEO about the steps taken by his government to the economy of the country.

The PM, on occasion, lauded the efforts being made by the World Bank in regional connectivity, poverty alleviation, financial management, provisional projects, Dasu and other infrastructure projects and ease of doing business.
