Security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt from across the border during the ceasefire, killing 45–50 militants in a major operation in Mohmand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,16, 2025) Security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by militants during the temporary ceasefire, launching a major counter-operation in Mohmand district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, that killed between 45 and 50 extremists.
According to security sources, the militants—identified as members of the fitna-e-khawarij group—attempted to cross into Pakistan from the Afghan border, exploiting the 48-hour ceasefire. Acting on precise intelligence, Pakistani troops swiftly surrounded the area and engaged the infiltrators in a prolonged exchange of fire.
The operation, whichh targeted a large militant formation, left dozens of extremists dead and several others wounded. Security officials said clearance operations are continuing in the region to eliminate any remaining threats.
Earlier, from October 13 to 15, security forces conducted multiple intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 34 terrorists in separate encounters, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The latest infiltration attempt follows Pakistan’s precision strikes on militant hideouts inside Afghanistan, which killed several members of fitna-e-khawarij. The temporary ceasefire was announced at the request of the Afghan Taliban following those strikes.
