During recent border tensions, Afghan Taliban and Indian media launched fake AI-based propaganda against Pakistan and its army.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,16, 2025) Amid recent border tensions, Afghan Taliban and Indian media have reportedly intensified a coordinated fake propaganda campaign against Pakistan, using AI-generated videos and fabricated news to malign the Pakistan Army.
According to security sources, the Afghan Taliban and Indian media spread false claims about Pakistan’s recent targeted operations, creating misleading content to stir anti-Pakistan sentiment on social media.
Sources revealed that Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid falsely claimed that Afghan forces had captured a Pakistani tank. However, fact-checkers later confirmed the tank shown in the circulated footage was actually a Russian-made vehicle already in Taliban use.
Mujahid also issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter) claiming the destruction of the Chaman Friendship Gate, which Indian media portrayed as an attack from the Pakistani side. Security officials clarified that the explosion occurred on Afghanistan’s side, where the Taliban had planted an IED, while the Pakistani side of the gate remained intact.
Furthermore, Indian and Afghan media falsely attributed a Kabul explosion to an oil tanker blast. In reality, sources said, the blast resulted from precision strikes carried out by Pakistan.
Security officials accused Indian media of producing fake and AI-manipulated videos to serve its propaganda goals. In one instance, Indian outlets misidentified a civilian from North Waziristan, Adil Dawar, as a martyred Pakistani soldier. Dawar himself released a video message denying the false claims.
Officials said the disinformation campaign exposed the growing India-Taliban nexus aimed at discrediting Pakistan internationally.
