Islamabad (Pakistan Point News / Online - 28th March, 2019) Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar has said that there is a huge potential for private and foreign direct investment in the power value chain including generation, transmission and distribution.He was speaking to a delegation of Shanghai Electric Power , who called him on at his office on Thursday. The delegation was led by Vice Chief Economist of the company, Mingwei Shi.
He said that that the government is committed to resolve the issues affecting the viability of power sector.He highlighted that under CPEC framework a number of energy projects are being executed and are in the pipeline.Mingwei Shi said that Shanghai Electric's investment in purchasing K-electric is only the beginning and the company is interested to further expand its investment portfolio in power sector of Pakistan.The minister was briefed about the latest status and issues in finalizing the transaction for purchase of KES power. Mingwei Shi requested the minister to facilitate the process for early completion of transaction.
