Islamabad (Pakistan Point News - 16th Jan, 2019 ) According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, more than half of all Pakistanis (54%) are against the celebration of the festival of basant. A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Some people are in favour of celebrating the cultural tradition of basant, some are opposed to it, while others say that it makes no difference – whoever wants to celebrate it may do so. What is your opinion?” In response to this question, 16% said that they were in support of it, 54% said that they were against it, 19% opined that it makes no difference, while 11% did not know or did not wish to respond.
