Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 5th January, 2018) Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat has said that he was kept uninformed on the government’s decision to celebrate Basant in Lahore.
In a recent interview, Raja Basharat said that the cultural minister himself made the announcement and formed a committee to review celebrating Basant.
He said he was only made the member of the committee and not taken into confidence.
When I got the information, I gave them the Supreme Court order that Punjab government will have to take the responsibility of celebrating Basant or will have to assure that there would be no loss of life.
For now, the decision to celebrate Basant has been halted as the question arises, who will take the responsibility in case of any loss during Basant.
He said the police has not taken any step in this regard and neither the provincial government has made a formal announcement.
“Basant will only be celebrated if court orders, otherwise there are not many chances of celebrating Basant,” the law minister said.
