PDMA urges public to report any damages or emergencies via helpline 1129
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 1st, 2025) An earthquake of 4.4 magnitude hit Lahore and other parts of Punjab on Tuesday.
The tremors caused panic among the residents who rushed out of homes and workplaces in fear.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the earthquake was felt in Lahore, Kasur, Okara and Sheikhupura.
The Seismological Center recorded the earthquake at a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 12 kilometers.
The tremors, though brief, were strong enough to trigger alarm among the public. Many residents were seen reciting prayers as they evacuated buildings.
The PDMA director general stated that all necessary machinery and response teams have been placed on high alert in anticipation of any aftershocks. The provincial control room along with district emergency operation centers across Punjab has been instructed to remain operational around the clock.
So far, no reports of loss of life or property damage have been received.
