IHC five judges challenge SC verdict in transfer, seniority case

Petitioners ask Supreme Court to annul transfer case decision through Intra-Court Appeal

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 28th, 2025) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) five judges on Saturday filed an intra-court appeal in the Supreme Court, challenging its verdict in the judges’ transfer and seniority case.

The appeal, submitted through senior lawyer Munir A. Malik, contests the Supreme Court’s earlier decision that upheld the transfer of judges to the Islamabad High Court.

In that verdict, a five-member bench of the Supreme Court had referred the matter of seniority to the President of Pakistan.

The petitioners requested the Supreme Court to annul the transfer case decision through the intra-court appeal. They also requested a stay on the implementation of the verdict dated June 19 until the appeal is decided.

Alongside the intra-court appeal, the judges also submitted an application for a stay order.

In this, they requested the court to restrain the President from determining the seniority of judges transferred to the Islamabad High Court.

Additionally, the judges sought to bar the Judicial Commission from appointing Justice Sarfraz Dogar as the permanent Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court.
