MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th April, 2019) The number of people killed in a bus accident on Portugal's Madeira island rose to 29, local media reported, citing the Funchal city hospital.
The authorities said earlier on Wednesday that 28 people had been killed in the accident that occurred in the Canico area in the Santa Cruz district at around 17:30 GMT. Twenty-eight other people, injured in the accident, were reportedly transported to the hospital.
The Lusa news agency reported, citing the hospital, that the death toll from the crash had risen after one of those injured had succumbed to wounds in the hospital.
The German Foreign Ministry has confirmed that those killed in the accident were German tourists.
The authorities of Madeira have declared three days of mourning over the crash victims.
