The singer is reportedly reuniting with a film production team with whom he has previously delivered several hit songs.
His comeback is expected to delight fans after his surprise announcement earlier this year that he was stepping away from playback singing.
According to reports, Arijit Singh has recorded the first song for Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming film Awarapan 2. The track, titled “Yeh Awarapan,” has been produced by Vishesh Bhatt and composed by Amaal Mallik.
The song is scheduled to be released on July 21 across major music streaming platforms.
Indian media reported that Vishesh Bhatt wanted the song to reflect the emotional journey of Emraan Hashmi’s character, Shivam Pandit, believing that Arijit Singh’s voice was the ideal choice to convey the depth of the role.
Arijit’s return follows months of speculation over whether he would resume playback singing after announcing his retirement at the beginning of the year. The announcement, made through his Instagram account while extending New Year greetings to fans, had disappointed many music lovers.
