CENTCOM says US forces struck Iranian military command centers, air defense systems, coastal surveillance facilities, naval capabilities, missile and drone launch sites
WASHINGTON/TEHRAN: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 20th, 2026) The United States military has completed its ninth consecutive night of operations against Iran, claiming to have targeted missile and drone launch sites along with key military infrastructure, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
In a statement, CENTCOM said US forces struck Iranian military command centers, air defense systems, coastal surveillance facilities, naval capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and communication networks during the latest round of attacks.
The command said the operations were aimed at further degrading Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM added that, under the direction of the US Commander-in-Chief, American forces would continue to hold Iran accountable and remain on high alert, mission-focused, fully prepared, and ready to conduct further operations if required.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had carried out retaliatory strikes on key US military installations in Kuwait and Qatar.
According to an IRGC statement, a drone attack completely destroyed a US early warning radar system in Qatar. The group also claimed to have targeted equipment and aircraft parts hangars at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
The IRGC further alleged that it struck a US MQ-9 drone base, destroying several drones during the operation.
Iran said the attacks were conducted in response to recent US strikes on Iranian territory. The claims made by the IRGC have not been independently verified, and US authorities have not yet commented on the reported attacks in Kuwait and Qatar.
