MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th January, 2019) Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa said on Monday that he ordered the arrest of individuals behind the incident of beating civilians during protests in Harare reported by the Sky news broadcaster.

Earlier on Monday, Sky News published a report on beating of a handcuffed man in a street of Zimbabwe's capital Harare by a policeman, a soldier and a plain clothes security agent amid mass protests over a sharp rise in fuel prices in the country.

"I was appalled by today's @SkyNews report. That is not the Zimbabwean way. I have instructed that the individuals behind this be arrested and encourage all those impacted to contact the authorities and file an official complaint," Mnangagwa wrote on Twitter.

Protests began in Zimbabwe on January 14 after fuel prices rose 150 percent across the country. Demonstrators took to the streets of Harare and the second-largest city, Bulawayo, that day, after which protests spread nationwide.
