U.S. President Donald Trump said he wants good ties with China and hopes for a trade deal with Xi Jinping, warning Hamas to honor the Gaza ceasefire or face elimination.
WASHINGTON : (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,21, 2025) U.S. President Donald Trump said he values his relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping and wants to maintain good relations with China, adding that he expects a trade agreement with Xi to be reached soon.
In a statement, President Trump said he believes the U.S. will have a stable relationship with China and that China does not want to attack Taiwan. He announced plans to visit China early next year.
“My priority is to reach a fair trade deal with China,” Trump said, adding that he expects a trade agreement with President Xi to be finalized at the end of this month during meetings in South Korea.
Trump reiterated, “I want to be on good terms with China. I very much like my relationship with President Xi — our relationship is very good.”
On the Gaza ceasefire agreement, the president said Hamas should be given a chance to honor the truce with Israel, but warned that if the group fails to comply it would be dismantled.
“We will give Hamas the opportunity to respect the Gaza ceasefire agreement, but if Hamas fails to comply, it will be eliminated,” he said.
Trump also stated that U.S. forces will not take part in ground fighting against Hamas. “If I told Israel to go into Gaza, they would enter Gaza in two minutes,” he said, adding that Washington has not asked Israel to invade and is instead giving Hamas a brief opportunity in the hope that violence will lessen.
“You know they are violent people. Hamas is now very weak,” Trump added.
