Death Toll In Landslide In Central Philippines Rises To 29 - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st September, 2018) The death toll in a landslide in the city of Naga in the central part of the Philippines has climbed to 29, media reported on Friday citing police.

Previous reports said that at least 22 people were killed in the disaster and 64 other were said to be missing.

Rappler news portal reported citing Naga City Police Chief Inspector Roderick Gonzales that seven people with injuries have been rescued.

The search and rescue operation continues, as people can still be under the rubble, according to the media outlet.

The landslide caused by heavy rains occurred on Thursday evening affecting over 20 houses.

Super Typhoon Mangkhut reached the northeast coast of the Philippines on September 14 and then moved on to southern China. According to the authorities, the typhoon affected over 800,000 people living in the region. As of September 19, the disaster left over 81 people killed in the Philippines.
