Govt, Sunni leaders agree to reopen mosques and release detainees

In Islamabad talks, the government and Tanzimat Ahl-e-Sunnat agreed to reopen sealed mosques and seminaries and release innocent workers to promote peace and harmony.

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,21, 2025) The government and representatives of Tanzimat Ahl-e-Sunnat Pakistan have reached an agreement on several key points during high-level talks held in the capital.

The delegation of Tanzimat Ahl-e-Sunnat was led by Pirzada Muhammad Ameen Qadri and included Dr. Abu Al-Khair Muhammad Zubair Al-Auri, Pir Mian Abdul Khaliq Qadri, Dr. Mir Asif Akbar, and Dr. Mufti Muhammad Kareem Khan.

During the negotiations, it was decided to immediately reopen all mosques that had been sealed across Pakistan and to avoid sealing any mosque in the future. Registered seminaries under the DG Religious education will also be reopened immediately.

Both sides also agreed to release innocent detained workers promptly, with Tanzimat Ahl-e-Sunnat to provide a list of such individuals.

The organization pledged to play its role in promoting peace, religious harmony, and national unity, while both parties agreed to continue mutual consultation on religious and national matters.
