Stars’ lighthearted and witty comebacks have been well-received by fans across Pakistan
KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 10th, 2025) Pakistani film superstars Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed gave a masterclass in grace and humor as they responded to social media criticism during the promotions of their latest film, released on Eid-ul-Azha.
The stars’ lighthearted and witty comebacks have been well-received by fans across Pakistan.
The iconic on-screen duo appeared on various platforms throughout the film’s promotional campaign, winning hearts with their candid and often hilarious responses to tough questions and sarcastic remarks. Several clips from their interviews went viral, particularly a video where they read out negative comments from social media — laughing them off and responding with style.
One user wrote, “It’s cruel to make these two dance at this age.” Upon reading the comment, both Mahira and Humayun burst into laughter. Mahira jokingly agreed in part, while Humayun replied with a fan-favorite line:
“But we’re passionate about it — that’s why we’ll keep dancing. Honestly, it’s more fun to dance in old age!”
Another viewer criticized the film’s production and lighting, suggesting that the stars looked like their everyday selves on screen. To this, Humayun responded:
“Funny thing is, everyone’s been saying we look fresh this time — must mean we spent a lot on production! Maybe the person who left the comment was watching another film’s video!”
A separate comment targeted Mahira, calling her a “tired old woman who can’t stop overacting.” Humayun replied cheekily,
“That overacting can never stop — it’s been a part of her since childhood!”
To which Mahira laughed and added, “Exactly! It’s impossible to stop the action!”
While the film has received mixed reactions from the audiences as some people are praising it as worth the money and others are questioning its very existence — Mahira and Humayun have proven that self-confidence, humor and professionalism can turn criticism into comedy and win over even the harshest of trolls.
