Actress Sanam Jung says she got six e-challans in a month in Karachi

The TV host says she had been back in Pakistan for only a month but had already received multiple electronic traffic challans, and a large number of fines had even upset her father, while she herself was surprised by the situation

KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 17th, 2026) Actress and television host Sanam Jung has shared her experience with Karachi's e-challan system, revealing that she received six traffic fines within just one month of returning to Pakistan, some of which she claims were issued for violations she did not commit.

In a video posted on Instagram, Sanam said she had been back in Pakistan for only a month but had already received multiple electronic traffic challans. She added that the large number of fines had even upset her father, while she herself was surprised by the situation.

The actress acknowledged that the first challan, issued for using a mobile phone while driving, was justified. She admitted it was her mistake and said the fine was appropriate if she had been using her phone behind the wheel.

However, Sanam questioned the validity of the subsequent fines, saying she could not understand why they had been issued.

She specifically referred to a challan for not wearing a seat belt, insisting that she always fastens her seat belt before driving. According to her, wearing a seat belt has become a permanent habit after living abroad, and she never starts driving without it.

Sanam said she was puzzled by receiving fines for violations she believes she did not commit, adding that besides the challans, she has also been facing criticism from her family over the issue.

Following the release of her video, many social media users shared their own experiences with the e-challan system. Several users also complained about receiving incorrect traffic fines and called on the relevant authorities to strengthen the verification process to ensure greater accuracy and transparency.
