Layak Ram Negi has approached the court that he would have won if his nomination papers had been accepted.
MUMBAI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 27th, 2024) Himachal Pradesh court is reviewing a challenge to Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut’s recent victory in the 2024 general elections.
The challenge was initiated by independent candidate Layak Ram Negi, who filed a petition against Ranaut. The court has issued notices in response.
Kangana Ranaut, 38, entered the Indian political arena for the first time last month and won.
Negi’s petition claims that despite fulfilling all necessary criteria, his nomination papers were unjustly rejected. He argued that he could have secured the win had he not been disqualified.
Negi contended that he was given only one day to submit a ‘due certificate’ from the electricity, water, and telephone departments.
Despite providing these documents, the returning officer did not accept them, leading to the rejection of his nomination.
