The election took place on Monday, where no opposition member submitted nomination papers for the position, securing her uncontested victory.

The Supreme Court nullified the ECP's decision to delay elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), ruling that the ECP's decision to hold polls on October 8 was unconstitutional.

The cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says the court's decision a "minority verdict" and "non-implementable”.

According to the judgment, polling for the Punjab Assembly's elections will be held on 14th May.

The names of nominated candidates will be published on Wednesday while scrutiny of nomination papers will continue till 22nd of this month.

The Election watchdog has said that the candidates could file their nomination papers between February 6-8.

The scrutiny process will be completed till Thursday while polling will be held on 14th of next month.
