MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th May, 2019) Iranian police have confiscated over a tonne of illegal drugs, including opium, heroin, hashish and morphine, across the country, officials said on Tuesday, as cited by the local media.

At least 1.14 tonnes of illegal substances were seized during an operation in Iranshahr county in southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Balouchestan, Brigadier General Mohammad Ghanbari, the police chief of the province, said as cited by Tehran-based Mehr news Agency.

Officers arrested one smuggler who possessed 2.4 Pounds of opium, 121 pounds of heroin, 22 pounds of hashish, and 11 pounds of morphine, he added.

In a separate raid, Iran's anti-narcotics police forces managed to seize at least 718 pounds of hashish in Yazd province in the center of the country, Second Brigadier General Mohammadreza Mir-Heidari said.
