Sanjay Dutt reveals he signed ‘Kalank’ for its emotional connection with Pakistan

Bollywood star said there is an emotional connect with the movie as his character named Balraj, which is his father Sunil Dutt’s real name, came from Pakistan during partition.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 17th April, 2019) Bollywood actors Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit will share the screen space after 21 years in Karan Johar’s Kalank.

One of the most-anticipated films of 2019, Kalank is the brain child of later filmmaker Yash Johar.

Speaking about his role in Kalank, Sanjay Dutt revealed that he signed for the movie for its emotional connection with Pakistan.

While talking to an Indian news outlet, the Bollywood star said there is an emotional connect with the movie as his character named Balraj, which is his father Sunil Dutt’s real name, came from Pakistan during partition.

"During the shoot of Gumrah, Yash uncle had briefly mentioned about the story. Dharma Productions is like family; so when Karan approached me with the film, I had to do it. It is also a coincidence that my character is named Balraj, which is my father's [Sunil Dutt] real name. He too came from Pakistan during Partition, so it has an emotional connect," said Sanjay Dutt.

The multi-starrer ‘Kalank', starring Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapoor, is all set to be released today, April 17.
