MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th April, 2019) Moroccan security forces have uncovered a terrorist cell comprising four members, aged between 33 and 38, in the country's northeastern city of Taza, local media reported on Wednesday, citing the Interior Ministry.

The leader of the cell was sentenced to jail time back in 2015 for terrorism-related activities, the Hespress news agency reported.

"According to preliminary information, the leader of the terrorist cell, who invited and recruited [other] members of the cell, was trying to use combat experience he gained in Iraq and Syria to plot and carry out terrorist attacks against vital institutions," the ministry's statement was quoted as saying by the agency.

The ministry added that one of those detained also financed the recruitment of militants in Morocco, the news agency added.
