MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th March, 2019) A total of 501 people were killed in Mozambique due to flooding and landfall, caused by the tropical Cyclone Idai, Lusa news agency reported on Saturday citing local authorities.In addition, the country's authorities registered 271 cases of cholera in the city of Beira, most affected by Idai, Ussene Isse, the national director of medical assistance, said as quoted by the media.
On March 15, Cyclone Idai hit Mozambique and then continued to neighboring Zimbabwe and Malawi, triggering floods and landfalls.
As a result, over 700 people were killed and hundreds others went missing in the aforementioned three countries, according to the UN estimates.
