Zoheb Hassan to take legal action against PSL for stealing ‘Disco Deewane’

Aima Baig had performed the song at the launch event of PSL season 4 in Dubai along with Shuja Haider.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 16th February, 2019) Renowned Pakistani pop singer Zoheb Hassan has criticised the Pakistan Super League (PSL) management for using ‘Disco Deewaney’ on the launch ceremony without permission.

Terming it an outright infringement of intellectual property, he said that he will take legal action on the issue.

Aima Baig had performed the song at the launch event of PSL season 4 in Dubai along with Shuja Haider.

While the audience loved the performance, Zoheb Hassan was unhappy with the song being sung without his permission.

Taking to Twitter, Zoheb wrote, “I was shocked to see that a reputable platform like PSL used our track Disco Dewane without our prior permission. Outright infringement of intellectual property should be condemned and I am going to take a legal stand on this one!”

Disco Deewane, sung by Nazia Hassan and her brother Zoheb Hassan, was a hit song of the 1980s. The music was composed by Zoheb with Indian producer Biddu. It charted in 14 countries worldwide and became the best-selling Asian pop record to-date.

The song was later adopted by Bollywood in Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Student of the Year’.
