Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 7th February, 2019) Bollywood veterans Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi will soon come to Pakistan to attend Kaifi Azmi festival in Karachi.
The Kaifi Azmi festival will pay tribute to Shabana Azmi’s father Kaifi Azmi.
The two-day festival will be held on February 23-24 at Karachi Arts Council.
The festival will pay a tribute to celebrated poet Kaifi Azmi.
Several known personalities from Pakistan and across the border have been invited to attend the event.
Indian media has confirmed that Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi will be coming to Pakistan this month to attend the event.
Meanwhile, the Karachi Arts Council has also issued a statement in this regard.
“We have invited Kaifi Azmi’s daughter Shabana Azmi and her husband Javed Akhtar for the event besides some other notable cultural personalities from India,” the statement read.
Professor Ejaz Farooqi, secretary of the council, said, “It is a great opportunity for notable and popular writers, poets and artists from India to interact with their Pakistani counterparts and we are confident the festival will be a success."
The visas of the Indian speakers will be processed soon.
Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar had last year attended Faiz Festival in Lahore.
The Bollywood couple had expressed their gratitude over the love showered upon them on their arrival to Pakistan.
