MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st December, 2018) Turkish forces killed, captured or forced to surrender 84 militants linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), listed as a terrorist organization by Ankara, in the course of counterterrorism operations held on 14-20 December across the country and abroad, local media reported Friday, citing the Turkish Defense Ministry.
According to the Anadolu news agency, citing regional governor's office, a group of terrorists was also neutralized in the province of Tunceli by the local gendarmerie unit.
The PKK is officially recognized as a terrorist organization by the Turkish authorities. Ankara has been fighting the group, which demanded to establish a Kurdish autonomy in Turkey, since the early 1980s. The two sides reached a ceasefire in 2013, however, the truce was breached two years later.
