BUENOS AIRES (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th November, 2018) After visiting Costa Salguero, the meeting place for the G20 Summit in Argentina's capital of Buenos Aires, a Sputnik correspondent became aware that preparations for the event were well underway.If you walk from the fashionable Palermo district which really never sleeps for about 15 minutes at a leisurely pace toward the La Plata River, which can easily be confused with the sea because of its sheer size, you will find yourself in a place called Costa Salguero, the site of a giant exhibition complex of the same name.
That is where the G20 Leaders' Summit is scheduled to take place on November 30-December 1. The roads accessing the location look unexpected, however.
When you turn off Avenida del Libertador, one of the city's main roads, which is covered with the pale purple flowers of the local Jacaranda tree, you enter a narrow street lined with old houses that are completely covered with graffiti.
After walking through it for about five minutes, you find yourself in front of the territory of the exhibition center where you can see not only pavilions, but also restaurants, a golf club, and even an airport.
The entrance to the center was already closed off by a fence, but so far there was no sight of security or the police for the time being they were most needed at El Monumental Stadium nearby to handle the fans and crowds gathered for the Copa Libertadores football finals.
An employee of the center, who was on duty at one of the entrances, said that the things would be buzzing any day now, and only then would the security services show up.
The Sputnik correspondent could not enter the pavilions, but he sensed that the preparations for the event were well underway the equipment was being delivered and workers were finishing up with various tasks.
In just a few days it will be possible to get to the exhibition center, which occupies an area of 40,000 square meters (430,000 square feet) on 17 hectares, but only by special shuttles and with the proper accreditation.
In the meantime, locals are fishing and playing football in the neighborhood of the upcoming summit venue.
