Two Koreas Agree To Create 50-Mile Peaceful Zone In Bordering Sea Areas

SEOUL (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2018) Seoul and Pyongyang agreed to establish an 80-kilometer (50-mile) zone in the border regions of the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan, where military exercises will not be conducted, according to a military agreement between the two Korean states signed in Pyongyang on Wednesday.

The document stipulates that the peace zone will be created in the area spanning from the South Korean island of Daecheongdo to the North Korean island of Chodo in the Yellow Sea, as well as from the South Korean port of Sokcho to North's Tanchon.

Artillery firings and naval exercises will be prohibited in this zone, South Korean Defense ministry explained.
