On Tuesday, Sudanese-born Salih Khater crashed a car into the security barrier outside the Houses of Parliament in London after having collided with several cyclists and pedestrians. The driver was detained shortly after the incident, which investigators have classified as a terrorist attack. Khater is believed to be a Birmingham resident.

"Two mosques in Small Heath hit by catapult bearings, breaking windows during evening prayers tonight - Masjid Qamarul islam mosque on Fosbrooke Road around 10pm [21:00 GMT] & Al-Hijrah mosque on Hob Moor Road 20 mins later," police wrote on Twitter.

As a precaution, firearms officers were deployed in the area, the police added without providing further information on the attackers.
