Sonam’s defence was not for Swara’s comments on Pakistan

Says my defence of her has nothing to do with her comments on Pakistan

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 6th June, 2018) Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor has clarified that her earlier comments were not in defence of Swara Bhaskar’s comments about Pakistan.

Sonam took to Twitter on Tuesday and wrote, “My defence of her has nothing to do with her comments on Pakistan! Get your fact right and stop trying to spread mischief and hate!”

Earlier, there were reports that Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor had come out in support of Swara Bhaskar, her Veere Di Wedding co-actor, for calling Pakistan a ‘failing state’.

According to reports in Indian media, Sonam while speaking on the incident said these incidents happen as Swara has an opinion of her own.

“I think people just like to troll her because she has an opinion and a point of view and I guess that shows how much they love her because the other side of hate is always love, so Swara you have a lot of lovers!,” she said.

However, Sonam now clarified that her statement had nothing to do with Swara’s comments against Pakistan. In fact, she had responded to the question regarding her scene in the film for which she was trolled!

Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar, featuring in Veere di Wedding, recently spoke against Pakistan, calling it a failing state.

Speaking about the ban on Veere de Wedding in pakistan in a recent interview, the actor said, “For some reason I have to keep answering for that. I don’t know why people think I’m a spokesperson for the Pakistani government. What do you expect from a state that’s run by Sharia Laws?”

“They’re a nonsecular state. I’m not surprised at all. Why should we hold up Pakistan, which is a failing state — I don’t understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling a sense of self-worth from all the silly things that happen in Pakistan. Apologies to all my Pakistani friends right now. Rest assured, Pakistanis have way worse vocabulary than we do. I know,” Bhaskar added.

This called for a backlash from not only Pakistani side but Indian side as well as the actress is being condemned for her statements.
