Actor In Law- A Review

Actor in law- A review

21st century is the era of Pakistani film revival, after the worst years of Punjabi films contributing well towards the abolishment of Pakistani Film industry. Now the movies being produced contain way better elements than the women dancing in the fields and a hero with thick mustache using his loud vocals to counter his enemy. Films like Khuda Kay Liye, Bol (produced by Shoaib Mansoor) and namaloom afraad have raised the Lollywood from the trench of failures to the bright twinkling sky of glory and success.

Pakistani film Industry released three films this year on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, Zindagi kitni haseen hai, Janaan and actor in law. Among which the actor in law has ruled the box office with a business of 1.65 crores on its opening day. The movie depicts Shan Mirza (Fahad Mustafa) as a law student who was dropped out of the college but on the other hand a wishful, seeking actor, unfortunately born in the family that run under a lawyer gaffer, Rafaqat Mirza (Om Puri).

Rafaqat Mirza's career is characterized by success and honesty, the honesty being his ultimate achievement. His talent remains unexplored after a series of auditions for films and tv. No sooner as he was facing the failure, he bumped on a theatre which finally recognizes his brilliant acting skills. But as life is a steep slope with a lot of hurdles on the way, one smooth step followed by the danger of slipping away. Fahad Mustafa has done full justice with his character and beamed with all the shine of his talent.

His heroic looks, the appropriateness of his expressions, and the way he brilliantly danced, blended well to produce the best out of him. Om Puri played the role of a strict-father-in-vain as the son is not according to his family's professional standards. There isn’t one other actor I can think of who would have befitted this character this well. And in the history of Pakistani film revival, two biggest acting imports of Pakistan from across the border, Naseeruddin Shah (Khuda Kay Liye and Zinda Bhaag) and Om Puri (Actor in Law) have contributed well with their marvelous acting skills.

Then comes the female lead of this film, Mehwish Hayat named as meenu screwvala, playing the role of Parsi adventure loving journalist. Mehwish Hayat has nailed the character as it was remarkably different from the usual streamline roles that comprises of the depiction of beauty and innocent face, her Parsi element being the cheery on top. Besides acting, one of the certain things which act as a pillar for the foundation of a movie and its success is the script.

The success of Actor in law has a huge dependency on its fine script. The script which will never let you feel bored or fill you with a feeling of disillusionment is an astonishing factor of the movie. You will want to watch the whole movie with the same level of interest you came with, in the cinema. The rest of the beauty of the movie resides in its sets and locations. Wise Direction and the cinematography of the film made the movie a source of pleasure for the eyes.

Karachi being the location of the movie is screened so beautifully, all of its colorful and culturally influenced aspects were highlighted in this movie making it quite amazing for the sight. The amalgam of shani arshad, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and Asrar contributed melodiously towards the great victory of the film, the Music and the musical notation in the background worked well to keep the scenes depicted well. Yeah you can say that the songs are not going to be remembered for the decades but will keep you entertained whenever you'll play them. But yeah opinions differ person to person, so you can have your view regarding the music.
