Punjab Govt present Rs10 million cheque to Naheed Akhtar in recognition of her services in singing

A cheque amounting to Rs. 10 Million from the Punjab Government was handed over to popular singer Naheed Akhtar Tuesday for acknowledgment of her services rendered in the field of singing

LAHORE, (Pakistan Point News - 13th Feb, 2018 ) A cheque amounting to Rs. 10 Million from the Punjab Government was handed over to popular singer Naheed Akhtar Tuesday for acknowledgment of her services rendered in the field of singing. Spokesman of Punjab Government Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan while representing Chief Minister Punjab delivered the cheque to the pride of performance singer in a simple ceremony held at Alhamra Arts Complex.

Executive Director Punjab Arts Council Capt. (R) Atta Muhammad Khan and Director Zulfiqar Ahmed Zulfi were also present. Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan paid tribute to the services rendered by Naheed Akhtar in the field of music and said that she had introduced a unique style in singing and inspired her fans with her magic voice. “Let me acknowledge that glamour in Pakistani music was first introduced by Naheed Akhtar and songs once sang by her were still popular among music lovers”, he said.

The spokesman further said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif believes that performing arts could play important role in promotion of tolerance in society. Malik Ahmed announced that Punjab Government shall soon arrange a seminar on Sufi poetry to discourage extremism among the youth, in general and among the students in particular. The Punjab Government wanted betterment and welfare of artist community and initiatives in this regards shall continue in future, he said.

“I wish Naheed Akhtar restart singing because vacuum occurred due to her absence could only be filled by her” desired Malik Ahmed Khan. Naheed Akhtar said that she was highly obliged that Punjab Government acknowledged her role in singing in an appreciating way. “I am very happy today, Shehbaz Sharif has proved that he was art lover in true sense” she exclaimed. She agreed with the spokesman that Sufi music can help in promotion of tolerance in society. “I will try to start singing for my fans once again” she promised. Executive Director Punjab Arts Council Capt. (R) Atta Muhammad Khan on this occasion offered the singer to use platform of Punjab Arts Council for restarting of singing.
