Vice President Delcy Rodríguez strongly condemns US action, calling it “the worst form of imperial aggression,”
CARACAS: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Jan 3rd, 2025) Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodríguez said the government received no information about the whereabouts or condition of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores following a reported US military operation and their arrest.
Rodríguez described the developments as unprecedented and said authorities are making continuous efforts to determine where the president and his wife are being held and in what condition.
She was addressing the nation on state television on Saturday.
She strongly condemned the US action, calling it “the worst form of imperial aggression,” and demanded that US President Donald Trump provide proof that President Maduro and the first lady are alive.
The vice president also claimed that there are reports of multiple casualties across the country, including government officials, military personnel, and civilians, as a result of the US attack.
Calling for national unity, Rodríguez said the current situation is extremely serious for the country and urged Venezuelans to stand together during what she described as a critical moment.
Earlier, President Trump had confirmed that the United States carried out a large-scale operation in Venezuela, arrested President Maduro along with his wife, and transferred them abroad. However, he did not disclose their location. US senators have said Maduro was taken to the United States to face legal proceedings.
