Actress says she has great respect for Nitish Kumar, but what he did is completely unacceptable, and asks him whether he feels any shame
NEW DEHLI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Dec 17th, 2025) Indian actress and dancer Rakhi Sawant has strongly criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for forcibly removing the veil of a Muslim woman.
In a video message shared on social media, Rakhi Sawant said, “I have great respect for Nitish Kumar, but what he did is completely unacceptable. Doesn’t he feel any shame?”
She questioned the act, highlighting the sensitivity of wearing a veil for Muslim women. “A Muslim woman wears a veil out of necessity. Does he have no sense at all? On one hand, he is honoring her with an award, and on the other, he is humiliating her,” she said.
Rakhi demanded that Nitish Kumar hold a press conference, invite the woman, and publicly apologize for the incident.
The incident, which occurred two days ago, has sparked widespread outrage. A case has been registered against Nitish Kumar for forcibly removing the woman’s veil.
The act has drawn condemnation from Indian politicians, journalists, and human rights organizations. Human rights activist Deepika Pushkar Nath described it as a serious case of sexual harassment, while former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also strongly condemned the incident, calling it a humiliation of women.
