LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,16, 2025) The Punjab government has decided to recommend a ban on an extremist group to the Federal government.

The decision was made during a law and order meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where it was resolved that individuals involved in spreading hate speech, incitement, and lawlessness across the province would be arrested immediately.

According to the official statement issued after the meeting, the Punjab government will recommend the federal government to impose a ban on the extremist group, while its leadership will be placed under the Fourth schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The statement further said that cases will be registered against the leaders and workers involved in the killing of police officers and destruction of public property. All assets and properties of the extremist group will be handed over to the Auqaf Department, while a complete ban will be imposed on the group’s posters, banners, and advertisements.

It was also decided that the social media accounts of the hate-spreading extremist organization will be blocked, and all of its bank accounts frozen. The government announced strict enforcement of the Loudspeaker Act, warning of severe action for violations.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Home Department has issued a one-month ultimatum for citizens to surrender illegal weapons. Legal firearms must be registered at the Service Centers within the same period. The government has also decided to inspect the stocks of all arms dealers and has suspended the issuance of new arms licenses across the province.

The provincial government further recommended that arms factories and manufacturers be regularized and approved an increase in penalties for illegal weapons possession.

Possessing illegal weapons in Punjab will now be a non-bailable offense, carrying a punishment of up to 14 years in prison and a fine of up to Rs 2 million.
