KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Oct 7th, 2025) The Sindh government has restructured the management board established to provide financial assistance to poor and deserving artists across the province.

A spokesperson for the Department of Culture said that Chief Secretary Sindh issued a notification of the new board members following the approval of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The earlier notification of the management board—formed in 2018 under the Department of Culture for endowment and stipend matters—has been suspended.

As per the new composition, Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Zulfiqar Ali Shah will serve as chairman of the board while the Secretary Culture will act as vice chairman and the Director General of Culture will serve as secretary and member.

The spokesperson added that the board includes Arts Council Karachi President, Arts Council Sukkur President, Secretary General of the Sindhi Adabi Board, singers Sanam Marvi and Rajab Faqir, renowned actors Javed Sheikh, Ayub Khoso, Ahsan Khan, and Muneeb Butt, celebrated writer Noorul Huda Shah, educationist Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, designer Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, and actor Irfan Samo.

The Culture Department spokesperson said the board would work to provide financial support to underprivileged artists, writers, poets and performers. The financial assistance would be granted based on collective decisions made by the board’s chairperson and members.
