Shah Rukh Khan injured on set of next film ‘King’, shifted to US for treatment

Though injury is not considered severe, doctors advise actor to take at least a month of rest to ensure complete recovery

MUMBAI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 19th, 2025) Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan sustained an injury during the shooting of his upcoming action film King, prompting his immediate transfer to the United States for medical treatment.

The Indian media reported that the incident occurred during the filming of a high-octane action sequence in Mumbai, where Khan, performing his own stunts, suffered a back injury. Though the injury is not considered severe, doctors have advised the actor to take at least a month of rest to ensure complete recovery.

Sources close to the production revealed that the accident took place when Shah Rukh was filming a particularly intense action scene. Despite prior incidents of injury on sets—including a neck injury during the shoot of Zero in 2017—Khan has remained committed to performing many of his own stunts.

Following the mishap, the production team of King has paused filming until the actor recuperates. Industry insiders say the delay may increase production costs, but the producers are prioritizing Khan’s health over the schedule.

The film King has been in development since last year and is scheduled for release in early 2026. Initially set to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the project is now being helmed by Siddharth Anand, known for the hit Pathaan.

A major highlight of King is the debut of Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Suhana Khan, who stars alongside her father in what is expected to be a deeply emotional father-daughter storyline. Actor Abhishek Bachchan also plays a pivotal role in the film.

The fans across the globe have been sending their prayers and well wishes to Shah Rukh Khan.

Following the massive success of Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, King is seen as another ambitious step in Khan’s evolving career.

In a recent interview, the actor expressed his excitement for the film, calling it the beginning of a powerful new chapter.

Filming is expected to resume after Khan’s recovery as the production team is hopeful of sticking to the original release timeline.
