National javelin throw secures gold with his final throw of 86.40 meters, having earlier taken lead with a powerful 85.57-meter throw

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-May 31st, 2025) Pakistan’s javelin throw Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem clinched the gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championship 2025, currently underway in South Korea.

Arshad secured the gold with his final throw of 86.40 meters, having earlier taken the lead with a powerful 85.57-meter throw. His first three throws were recorded at 75.64, 76.80, and 85.57 meters respectively.

India’s Sachin Yadav won the silver medal with a throw of 85.16 meters, while Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama claimed bronze with a throw of 83.75 meters.

Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Tharanga Pathiraja, who initially led the points table in the early stages of the competition, finished fourth with a final throw of 83.27 meters.

In the first round, Sri Lankan athletes had dominated the top two positions in the javelin throw, but Arshad Nadeem outclassed them with throws of 81.91 and 79.81 meters, pushing them to second and third place.

In the Group A qualifying round, Arshad Nadeem delivered a stunning 86.34-meter throw on his very first attempt — the longest throw of that stage.

PCB chairman congratulates Arshad Nadeem

Chairman of the Pakistan cricket board, Mohsin Naqvi, extended his congratulations to Olympic javelin gold medalist Arshad Nadeem for winning gold at the Asian Athletics Championship.

In his message, the PCB chairman also congratulated Arshad’s coach and family, saying, “He has once again made the nation proud. His victory is a result of continuous hard work and dedication.”
