Chasing a target of 277 runs, South African team was bowled out for 183 on fourth day of play
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Oct 15th, 2025) Pakistan made a winning start to the Test series by defeating South Africa by 93 runs in the first Test match played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Chasing a target of 277 runs, the South African team was bowled out for 183 on the fourth day of play.
The day began with South Africa’s first-innings centurion Tony de Zorzi at the crease, but he was trapped lbw by Shaheen Shah Afridi on just the third ball of the morning for 16. With the total at 55, Tristan Stubbs became Nauman Ali’s first victim of the day.
Ryan Rickelton and Dewald Brevis put up some resistance, adding 73 runs for the fourth wicket to give their team a glimmer of hope. However, Brevis was bowled by Nauman Ali for 54, and only six runs later, Rickelton departed for 45.
After the lunch break, Pakistan’s bowlers tightened their grip, and South Africa’s remaining wickets fell in quick succession, ending their innings at 183.
For Pakistan, Nauman Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed four wickets each, while Sajid Khan took two, sealing a comprehensive win for the home side.
