Russian Yuriy Martyshev Transferred to US Prison in North Carolina - Bureau of Prisons

Russian citizen Yuriy Martyshev has been transferred to a prison in the US state of North Carolina as he serves his 78-month sentence on charges of computer hacking, the US Bureau of Prisons (BOP) said on its website

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th May, 2019) Russian citizen Yuriy Martyshev has been transferred to a prison in the US state of North Carolina as he serves his 78-month sentence on charges of computer hacking, the US Bureau of Prisons (BOP) said on its website.

"Martyshev located at Rivers CI Rivers Security," the BOP's Inmate Locator said.

Correctional Institution Rivers (CI Rivers) is a privately run correctional institution, operated by the corporation GEO Group and located in the city of Winton, North Carolina.

Currently, 1,309 inmates are imprisoned at the prison, which is considered a low-security facility, according to the BOP.

In April, a US Federal court sentenced Martyshev to 78 months in jail.

His lawyer Alexey Tarasov told Sputnik after the sentencing that he had asked the authorities to place Martyshev at the Allenwood correctional facility in the US state of Pennsylvania.

Prior to his sentencing, Martyshev was imprisoned at Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Virginia.
