Meesha’s brother Faris Shafi withdraws LSA nomination for best song

Taking to Twitter, Meesha’s brother Faris Shafi requested that the track be removed from the list of nominees.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 9th May, 2019) Following sister Meesha Shafi and other celebrities from the industry, Faris Shafi has announced to withdraw his nomination from Lux Style Awards (LSA).

Faris Shafi’s song Clap, that he performed with Talal Qureshi, had been nominated for the best song at LSA.

Taking to Twitter, Meesha’s brother Faris Shafi requested that the track be removed from the list of nominees.

He said that both him and Talal Qureshi are neither attending nor endorsing the awards.

“Requesting that the following track, which has been nominated for ‘best song’ at the @LuxStyleAwards be removed from the list of nominees. @talalqureshi and I are neither attending, nor endorsing the awards. Thank you and good night 🙏🏼,” he wrote.

Meesha Shafi had alleged her colleague Ali Zafar of sexual harassment in in June last year.

The case led to various celebrities boycotting the LSA 2019, leading to a heated controversy. Model Eman Suleman was the first to turn down her LSA nomination expressing how she did not wish to be nominated alongside an alleged harasser.

This followed boycotts by more fashion brands and celebrities, including Generation, makeup artist Saima Bargfrede, filmmaker Jami, model Rubbab Ali, singer Meesha Shafi, folk rock band The Sketches, designer Maheen Khan and makeup artist Fatima Nasir.

Singer Meesha Shafi, whose song ‘Mein’ was nominated for the best song, also demanded that her name and work be removed from the list of nominees given the current circumstances.
