Sergey Lavrov Praises Development of Cooperation Between Security Services of Russia, Lesotho

Russia welcomes the development of bilateral cooperation between Moscow and Maseru, in particular the interaction of security services, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th February, 2019) Russia welcomes the development of bilateral cooperation between Moscow and Maseru, in particular the interaction of security services, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday.

"Contacts between lawmakers are developing. We would like them to become regular. Mutually beneficial working contacts between security services are also evolving," Lavrov said at the meeting with his counterpart from Lesotho, Lesego Makgothi.

Moscow intends to boost dialogue with Maseru in matters pertaining to international politics, considering Lesotho's active membership in African organizations, in particular the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Lavrov added.

Makgothi also expressed Lesotho's intentions for strengthening bilateral cooperation with Russia, particularly in investment and security.

In November, Lesotho celebrated the successful completion of the SADC's Preventative Mission in the Kingdom of Lesotho (SAPMIL), which was launched by the African Community in an effort to secure peace after an attempted coup on Lesotho Prime Minister Thomas Thabane created a power vacuum in the country.
