MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th January, 2019) The military seized control over the state broadcasting station of Gabon on Monday to announce the creation of the National Restoration Council, RFI Afrique radio station reported.
The military arrived at the broadcaster's office around 4 a.m. (3:00 GMT) local time.
Lieut. Ondo Obiang Kelly read out a communique on behalf of the army over the radio.
The statement said that the military had been disappointed by the December 31 address of President Ali Bongo Ondimba and branded it "a deplorable performance of the fierce attempt to retain power."
The military announced that in the next few hours it would create a National Restoration Council.
