Russia's Ded Moroz to Meet Finnish Counterpart on December 20 - Press Service

Russia's Ded Moroz (or Father Frost, a Slavic version of Santa Claus) will meet with his Finnish counterpart, Joulupukki, at the Russian-Finnish border near the Leningrad Region on December 20, the region's administration's press service said on Tuesday.

ST. PETERSBURG (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th December, 2018) Russia's Ded Moroz (or Father Frost, a Slavic version of Santa Claus) will meet with his Finnish counterpart, Joulupukki, at the Russian-Finnish border near the Leningrad Region on December 20, the region's administration's press service said on Tuesday.

"On December 20, at 10:00 Moscow time [07:00 GMT] a traditional meeting between Ded Moroz from Veliky Ustyug and Finland's Joulupukki will be held at Brusnichnoye border crossing point," the statement said.

The two holiday figures will exchange greetings and gifts. The event's program will also include the performances by artistic groups from Russia and Finland.

According to the press service, Ded Moroz and Joulupukki will then head to Finland's southeastern city of Lappeenranta, where they will meet local residents. Ded Moroz is then expected to visit the Russian city of Vyborg to take part in New Year's celebrations.
