Bulgarian Citizens Conduct Rallies Against High Living Cost - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th November, 2018) Mass protests due to rising cost of living, low incomes, high fuel and food prices for fuel, accompanied by calls for the resignation of the government, took place in cities across Bulgaria, local media reported on Sunday.

According to the Sofia Globe newspaper, four rallies were scheduled for Sunday in Sofia alone. Protests were also held in Plovdiv, Dobrich, Gabrovo, Montana, Yambol and other cities.

The country's Interior Minister Mladen Marinov said that the government had announced part of the protests in the country through official channels and urged people to participate only in such protests.

According to the minister, measures were taken to "guarantee peaceful protests for those who participate in them."

About 2,000 policemen were sent to patrol the streets because of the protests, about half of them - in the capital of Bulgaria.
