MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th August, 2018) The fortunes of 23 Russian billionaires decreased by $4.1 billion following Friday's trading, Sputnik calculated based on data released by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI) on Monday.

According to the BBI figures, the most serious losses ($3 billion) accounted for 11 businessmen, whose assets might be affected by the proposal of Russian presidential aide Andrey Belousov to seize excess profits of metallurgical, oil and gas companies and fertilizers manufacturers.

Thus, Vladimir Lisin, the main beneficiary of Russia's NLMK Group, the country's biggest steelmaker, suffered largest losses costing $832 million.

Viktor Rashnikov, the main beneficiary of the Russian MMK steel producing company, and Alexey Mordashov, the major stockholder of Severstal steel-related mining company, lost over $400 million each.

Among other Russian businessmen, who suffered major financial losses, the BBI mentioned Roman Abramovich and Alexander Abramov, who control Cyprus-based Lanebrook Limited investment company, Vladimir Potanin, one of the major stockholders of Nornickel metals and mining company, and Andrey Melnichenko, EuroChem fertilizer manufacturer head.

Last week, Belousov proposed that budget revenues from the metallurgical, oil and gas and chemical companies' excess profits, which are due to macroeconomic factors such as ruble's weakening, should be increased to up to 500 billion rubles ($7.35 billion) per year.
