ISLAMABAD:(UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 20th, 2026) The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a fresh revision in petroleum prices for a period of 24 hours, lowering the price of petrol while increasing the rate of high-speed diesel in line with fluctuations in the international oil market.
An official notification issued by the authority said that the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs0.35 per litre, bringing the new retail price to Rs315.80 per litre.
Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs5.71 per litre, raising its retail price to Rs360.06 per litre.
The revised prices came into effect at 12:00am and will remain applicable until 12:00am the following day, after which the government is expected to issue a fresh notification based on prevailing international market trends and exchange rate fluctuations.
The latest adjustment reflects changes in global crude oil prices, which continue to experience volatility due to shifting demand and supply dynamics in the international energy market. OGRA periodically reviews petroleum prices and recommends adjustments based on international oil prices, import costs, freight charges and other relevant factors.
The reduction in petrol prices is expected to provide only marginal relief to motorists, as the decrease amounts to just 35 paisas per litre. On the other hand, the significant increase in the price of high-speed diesel is likely to have a wider economic impact because diesel is extensively used in the transport, agriculture and industrial sectors. Higher diesel prices often contribute to increased transportation and logistics costs, which can eventually influence the prices of essential commodities and other goods.
